Voluma XC

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area.Wrinkles and lines aren’t the only signs of aging. Over time, the cheeks flatten, and the skin may begin to sag. This is caused by a natural loss of volume in the cheek area, or what the experts call age-related midface volume loss.

What is hyaluronic acid (HA)?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring, substance found on your skin. As you age, you start to lose HA, which causes the skin to lose structure and volume, contributing to the formation of wrinkles and folds.

What is age-related volume loss?

As you age, it’s not just about lines and wrinkles. Your cheeks lose volume and the skin may begin to sag. This is because of a loss of fullness, or volume, due to the aging process.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is the first FDA-approved injectable gel to instantly add volume in the cheek area. It gives you a subtle lift, helping restore contour and a more youthful profile for up to two years with optimal treatment. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is for patients over the age of 21.

Is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC right for me?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is used in people over 21 to treat age-related volume loss. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC may be right for you if you notice flattening or sagging skin in the cheek area and want to correct this for a more youthful profile.
You should not use JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC if you have a history of severe allergies or severe allergic reactions like anaphylaxis, or if you are allergic to the gram-positive bacterial proteins used to make Hyaluronic Acid in JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC or lidocaine.

Is treatment with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC injectable gel painful?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC contains lidocaine (a type of anesthetic) to help numb the treatment site. Your doctor may also choose to numb the treatment area with a topical or other injected numbing agent to further minimize discomfort.

What are the possible side effects of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC injectable gel?

In a clinical study, most side effects were moderate in nature, and generally lasted 2 to 4 weeks. The most common side effects include temporary reactions at the treatment site such as tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. These side effects are consistent with other facial-injection procedures. Although most side effects will resolve with time, some side effects may persist longer than 30 days. Your doctor may choose to treat them with medications, such as antibiotics, steroids, or hyaluronidase (an enzyme that breaks down HA). As with all skin-injection procedures, there is a risk of infection. Rarely, vision abnormalities have been reported after treatment with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC.
